Children as young as 6 years old and their Adult companion can team up to take this beginning sewing class.

Sewing 101 is for the new or relatively inexperienced sewist. Sewing Machine basics is recommended but not required. We will review the basics of the machine, pinning and cutting fabric, sewing a straight line, corners and curves, and turning and pressing. The projects are a lined drawstring bag, a zippered pouch and folded market tote Materials are included. You can bring your own machine or one will be provided at no charge.

Ages:13+ Do you have a sewing machine but don't know the first thing about it? In this class we'll go over the basic components of the sewing machine: how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine, sew straight lines & corners, reverse and complete a small project! Class is 2 hours and all materials are included. Bring your own machine or use a class machine at no charge.

Sewing camp for all levels. We teach each camp as if the student has never sewn before. We do tailor some projects for students who are more advanced. Camp starts at 10:30am. Pick up is at 2:30pm. Child should bring a lunch and a water bottle. Student can bring their own sewing machine if they would like but sewing machines are provided as are all other materials. THEME: Entrepreneurship. Tuition becomes non-refundable March 13, 2020.

Join our open studio with Jane on the last Sunday of every month. More help than our traditional open studio because you'll have our very experienced Jane to help out if you run into trouble on your project. This is not a private lesson. You will have use of our space and tools. Sewing machines and sergers are available as well as thread and cutting tools. Please sign-up in advance of class if you intend to participate, as the store will not be open in the case of inadequate enrollment.

This loose shift is both comfortable and elegant, the perfect wardrobe staple. Choose from three different lengths: a cropped top, above-the-knee dress, or calf-length dress with side slits. The top has a plain back, while the dress has added fullness from back gathers. Patch pockets, waist tie, and three quarter length sleeve options are included. In this beginner class, you will learn: how to read a commercial sewing pattern how to select the correct size pattern tracing, marking, and cutting laying out pattern pieces on fabric cutting fabric seam finishing hemming YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN SEWING PATTERN AND FABRIC. If this is your first garment sewing class we will provide a pattern for you:ie Scout Tee or Montrose Top. These easy shirt patterns require using a woven material that has no stretch. The proper fabric choice can make a big difference when learning to sew your first garment.

Join Sew Hip and Jessica Melrose Art for an afternoon of macrame!! Beginners welcome. No prior experience necessary. Plant and pot not included.

Volunteer your skills to make booties for babies that will be part of an art installation to bring attention to high infant mortality rates in the US. At the end of the art exhibition all the booties will be donate to charities.
